CONCRETE SLAB
Slab foundation. As the name suggests, a slab is a single layer of concrete, several inches thick. The slab is poured thicker at the edges, to form an integral footing; reinforcing rods strengthen the thickened edge. The slab normally rests on a bed of crushed gravel to improve drainage.
CONCRETE WORK
A special method of carrying out concrete work is the so-called separate method of concreting; it consists of forcing a cement-sand paste into crushed stone (gravel), previously placed in the form-work, by means of pipes or special injectors inserted into the aggregate.
